Heading from the Netherlands to London to be with family and friends, Sophie and Eelco had a very special guest on their wedding day in the form of ‘bump’. A few weeks later ‘Bump’ became Max and it was so beautiful to be able to capture this happy couple so excited for the next stage of their lives together. Check out their amazing day.
“Wow wow wow!!!
Andy! Words cannot explain
how happy and beside
ourselves we are. We cannot
believe how beautiful and
amazing these photos are!”

After meeting at London Business School, the couple relocated to Eelco’s home country, the Netherland’s. Sophie had lived in London for 15 years, and the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in the city was the perfect choice of venue for their guests who would be travelling from all over for the couples special day.
Sophie and Eelco had expressed how important photography was to them, they booked me as they wanted images that captured their personality and all the fun, smiles and love of the day whilst at the same time making sure there were some stylish, but not overdone, shots of them both (Sophie’s words). It was such an amazing wedding to be involved in, and I am so happy to have created images that they love.

…what Sophie didn’t expect was Eelco to get up on stage and perform a song to her. Needless to say, there were tears…
“…thank you for allowing us to re-live
the most special day of our lives with
these amazing heirlooms.
A million thank-you’s from the bottom
of our hearts.
We can’t thank you enough!”

25 weeks pregnant on the day of the wedding, Sophie looked completely amazing. Bump was worn with pride and it was clear how excited the couple were to meet him in just a few weeks time. A wonderfully calm start to the day with breakfasts with friends and family was followed by the ceremony held in the hotel. There was a very near disaster when exuberant and excited children accidentally knocked over a huge ornament that was luckily saved from crashing just in the nick of time! Once that near disaster was diverted, the ceremony managed to go without a hitch.
Drinks and canapes were taken on the Grand Stair Case, such an awesome location. This was also to be the location for some of the speeches. A lovely tradition from Eelco’s home where anyone can get up and say something about the couple – and they did! Everyone seemed to have something to say. It was so lovely – unrehearsed and spoken straight from the heart. This was followed by a fairly grand sit down that included numerous cake cuttings which were awesome! Each table was given a cake and a person nominated to cut and share that cake out. I managed to find some time to slip away with Sophie and Eelco and make some portraits. Eelco decided to have as much fun as he could whilst doing so, Sophie was in stitches!
A band then took centre stage to get the party going. What Sophie didn’t expect was Eelco to get up on stage and perform a song to her. There were tears (happiness thankfully!) As the evening continued, everyone partied the night away with a Silent Disco.
It was so wonderful to be involved in this very special day. Hearing all about the arrival of Max and continuing to keep up with the adventures of the couple and watch Max grow has been a real joy.
