Lake Garda Wedding Photography
Lake Garda Wedding
Lake Garda can only be described as one of the most awesome places on earth to get married. With its clear blue waters, olive and lemon groves, breathtaking scenery it provides the perfect backdrop for any destination wedding. As an award winning Lake Garda wedding photographer I’m happy to share what I have learnt about getting married at Lake Garda and how to have the most amazing day of your lives!
Malcesine Wedding
I have shot at various locations on Lake Garda, and one of my favourites has to be the small lakeside village of Malcesine on the Eastern shore. This is a picturesque village with its blue waters and the mountain of Monte Baldo as the backdrop. Malcesine is dominated by Castello Scaligero, the dramatic cliff top castle that overlooks the village which is a stunning and breathtaking venue to hold your marriage ceremony.
There are two ceremonies rooms at Castello Scaligero, one for more intimate weddings of up to 40 and the other can hold around 70 people. Ceremonies can also take place on the terrace that can host up to 100 people and has awe-inspiring views. The castle is the perfect location for civil ceremonies as the stunning scenery includes the backdrop of Lake Garda, with winding streets leading down to the harbour. It’s worth remembering that you may need to undertake a short walk to the castle as the streets are narrow.
Civil ceremonies can also take place at the Palace of the Captains (Palazzo dei Capitani), a 14th Century Venetian building with luxurious rooms and a balcony facing out to the lake, as well as gardens that are perfect for post ceremony drinks. Only half an hour from Malcesine are a range of villas that could perfectly host your wedding reception and provide you with private accommodation for your stay.
Also on the West side of the lake are the castles of Torri del Benaco and Castello di Lonato with their wonderful panoramic views, as well as the villas and ancient mansions in Salo or Gardone Riviera. The beautiful Sirmione Town Hall also makes an awesome location for your ceremony and reception. To see more of my work or enquire about my availability for your Lake Garda Wedding, click here.
Isole Del Garda Wedding
Isole Del Garda is the only island located in the middle of Lake Garda, and on it stands the privately owned castle of, San Felice del Benaco, with enchanting Venetian features. Guests tend to take a ferry out to the island and often the bride arrives in style by speedboat. You could then head back to the lakeside to one of the many splendid hotels who would host your reception. One of my recommendations is Hotel Sogno, where you can have drinks on the terrace overlooking the lake. I love being an Isole Del Garda wedding photographer. Arqua Petrarca Wedding
My final recommendation for your wedding at Lake Garda would be Arqua Petrarca, a Medieval village around an hour from Venice. This village is full of character. If Catholic, you could hold your ceremony at the ancient church of Arquà, S. Maria Assunta. For a civil ceremony, an intimate and central venue is Loggia dei Vicari. You may then choose to eat at one of the fantastic restaurants in the village or drive 15 minutes to reach a number of villas or small castles nestled amongst vineyards which can host your reception in grandeur. I’d love to be your Arqua Petrarca Lake Garda wedding photographer, see if I’m available for your wedding here.
