Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds is, without a doubt, one of my favourite UK wedding venues. Located in Cirencester, near Bidbury, Cripps Barn was the first and original wedding barn venue from the family-run Cripps & Co. It really is the perfect wedding venue – combining rustic charm with modern touches. It is spacious inside and out and perfect for weddings of all sizes. So you’ve found the perfect venue – now you need the perfect wedding photographer. The venue is an 18th century converted barn, located in the beautiful Coln Valley, has all the quaint charm along with all modern conveniences you could ask for. Flagstone floors and wooden beamed ceilings make the venue light and airy but also with a cosy charm – perfect in all seasons. As well as amazing interiors, the barn has great outdoor space for your wedding guests to fully utilise. The large terrace has scenic views of the Cotswold countryside and also looks out onto the woodland garden. There is a range of outdoor seating and fire pits.
Nestled in the stunning countryside, this stone barn is the perfect backdrop to your big day. This was the original Cripps Barn venue and has some of the awesome features that have been replicated in the others such as the flagstone floors, outside fire pit and BBQ. At Cripps Barn you can marry outside or inside, or choose to split your celebrations making the most of the spaces. What is even more, you and your guests can camp over! Natural Wedding Photography with a documentary approach
If you want a photographer that directs your day, then that’s not my style. To me, the best wedding photography is natural. It is about capturing who you are and those who you love authentically. My style has been described as a documentary and fine art, but in truth my aim is to be unobtrusive, fit into your big day and tell your story. Your wedding day is like no other, as you are like no other. I want to capture every moment that matters. There will be no staged pictures or unnatural poses, it will be about you having the time of your lives, and me being along for the ride capturing that amazing time! You surrounded by all that you love on the best day of your lives.
That’s not to say, we won’t escape for a few moments and make some epic portraits. At this point, I will take charge to help you achieve some art that is unique and is really you. Photography is the one thing from your day that increases in value, it is the memory that tells you who you were, how you felt and who mattered to you. In truth, it is priceless. I am an award-winning photographer who shoots all over the UK and further a field. Over the years i’ve picked up numerous awards including the Best UK wedding photographer for the wedding Insutry Awards and Masters of Wedding Photography. I’ve won Junebug Weddings ‘Best of the Best’ photograph award a number of consecutive years in a row, as well as Fearless Photographer awards. Although it’s great to know those in the industry rate what I do, the best accolade is the fact my couples have images that they love. It’s why I do what I do! Your wedding at Cripps Barn
Some couples get ready together, others separately. Whether staying on site or in a nearby town, as your photographer I will be about in the morning and spend time with you both. Even if you feel unsure about having someone round, believe me it is the best thing. It helps you start to relax and forget i’m there, I’ll put you and tour family and friends at ease and that makes the rest of the day so much easier all round. But also you will love the shots you get from the morning, there are so many special moments and it really is the start of the story of your day.
Your Ceremony
Ceremonies tend to be held in the main barn. The stone word and wood are enhanced with the chandeliers. There are two large entrances to the room and lots of lights coming from the outside terrace and the oak room on the other side. The main ceremony room hold around 120 guests. The room looks perfect dressed minimally with its stone walls and floor, wooden beams and simple wooden chairs. However a few flowers from your florist add those extra special touches.
Outdoor ceremonies are also an option. The Oak pavilion is located in the gardens of the barn in a quaint woodland area. Guests are seated on the wooden chairs and the views are amazing! During the ceremony I will make sure I capture each moment that matters, not just of your both but also your guests. The vows, the ring exchange, the first kiss.
Perfect confetti moments follow the ceremony – real petals are the best thing to use and look and smell amazing!
The Wedding Reception
You can move from the ceremony room to an alternative space, or if the weather is good you can take advantage of the expansive terrace with a range of seating and beautiful plants. The catering team will provide canapés and drinks of your choice. The drinks reception is often a good time to get some group portrait shots done as everyone is together and relaxed. I’ll judge the timing and we will make sure you get the photos you are after in the shortest amount of time so you can all continue enjoying yourselves.
Wedding Meals at Cripps Barn
When it comes to the wedding breakfast, then the light and airy Oak Room is the perfect place. The room takes 150 guests seated. Cripps Barn offers in house catering and there is so much amazing choice and high quality meals on offer. There is also the chance to have outside BBQs later in the afternoon/evening. As your photographer, I will judge the day to work out the best time to grab some couples portraits of you both. It may be we got some at the drinks reception, may be between meal courses, or we slip off after he meal as the sun is setting to make the most of the golden hour in the beautiful surroundings of Cripps Barn.
Wedding Party
In the evening, the main barn becomes the place where guests can dance the night away. Cripps Barn stays open until 1am so there is plenty of time to make the most of the music and socialising with your guests. I love a good dance floor and will be in and amongst your guests and getting the best shots! I offer unlimited coverage, so I will be at your wedding until the last guest leaves the dance floor.
