“The way you have captured our friends and family is just class!!! You capture people’s personalities brilliantly. We are so happy. Thank you so much!”
Tilly and Dave are the most awesome, relaxed and down to earth couple. They chose the amazing barn venue of Hornington Manor in York for their wedding celebrations, and much fun was had!
Interesting fact – Tilly helped me get my ‘forever home’. We first met in 2013 when I was buying a house in York, so it was fabulous to be contacting again a few years down the line when Tilly and Dave decided to get married.

An absolutely perfect couple and an ideal wedding. As Tilly described;
“We really wanted to have a wedding that wasn’t just about us but all of our family and friends too. Hornington Manor ticked a lot of boxes for us straight away, the beautiful barn and accommodation as well as the views over the fields. It didn’t hurt that with my love of sheep that the farm is home to both sheep and alpacas, that was quite the bonus!”
Whilst Tilly and her bridesmaids got ready in the morning, a surprise delivery of ‘wedding day’ ballons arrived that brought extra smiles and joy. I spent some time with the bridal and groom party in the morning, capturing events in a documentary style and making them feel at ease around the camera.
Capturing Emotion
The ceremony took place around midday in the barn which was decorated perfectly with paper lanterns, lights, and candles. Tilly was walked down the aisle by her uncle to ‘I Giorni’ by Ludivico Einaudi. David’s reactions were amazing, a few tears were shed! David is clear that he loved Tilly from the first time they met on a night out in York and was so happy to be marrying the love of his life. An extract of a John Cooper Clarke poem was included in the readings that fit the pair perfectly.
Following the drinks and canapes, guests re-entered the barn for the meal and speeches. The simple and elegant decor was perfect, white hydrangeas were a key feature along with Tilly’s wedding balloons. Tilly’s mum gave a moving speech that mentioned the sadness they felt that Tilly’s dad was no longer with us but that he’d be so proud of Tilly and happy for her and David.
As the evening began, more guests joined the celebrations. I found some time to slip away with the couple a make a few portraits and had them back at the party in no time at all. Tilly and David made the most of the evening and partied well into the early hours of the morning. I managed to pull a few awesome moves myself on the dancefloor whilst photographing the wedding party.
Hornington Manor – the perfect venue for weddings
Hornington Manor was an amazing venue for their celebrations. Tilly and Dave and their guests had the whole run of the manor house and barn for the weekend and the staff were amazing. As Tilly stated:
“The fact that we were able to spend the whole weekend with everyone really means a lot. We had family coming from all over the country and guests from America so it was perfect that we had extra time to catch up with them all and the celebrations didn’t have to stop after one night”.
The couple now have their wedding album to relive their amazing day again and again. David ordered an album as a surprise for Tilly, it was a pleasure and an hour to design an album for them both.
