Middleton Lodge as a wedding venue
Middleton Lodge has a range of indoor and outdoor event spaces that you can fully optimise for your wedding. The main house is without doubt a grand country house that looks out over a croquet lawn. Ceremonies can be held indoor in the Great hall or the Drawing Room. For smaller weddings, ceremonies and eating can take place in the main house, or you can step out of the main house onto the lawn where a marquee is and this can be used for larger wedding meals and evening celebrations. Although the main celebrations may beed to come to and end, there is exclusive use of the cellar bar for late night revelry! Drinking and dancing can continue into the small hours should you so wish!
For me though, the most amazing place to host part of your wedding day has to be the Fig House, set amongst a 2 acre walled garden. Large windows and doors looking onto the walled garden mean the room is flooded with light. Set with long rustic tables and minimalist decorate, this is an incredibly stylish venue.
One of the best weddings I shot at Middleton Lodge included use of the Fig House for the main meal (seats 130 people), the main house stair case area for cake cutting and live music provide by a brass band, followed by guests moving to the drawing room for late afternoon drinks. The guests were moved in style – following a brass band across the estate – drink in hand and dancing as they went! This was followed by the evening party in the marquee with quests spilling out onto the lawns for a hazy summer evening.
When the English weather is behaving, you can also have an outdoor ceremony at Middleton Lodge – there are a choice of locations including the pavilion and lawns. The wedding described above experienced all a British summer can throw at you. A bit of rain didn’t dampen any spirits, and in fact made for some stunning couples portrait photographs. We even got some sun in the afternoon and the opportunity to take time to stroll through the walled garden with the couple.
Middleton Lodge Weddings – facilities and finding it!
The main house has 16 rooms, and there are also cottages and a luxury tree house on the estate to be utilised by yourself and your guests. Middleton Lodge is only an hour away from cities such as Leeds and York, and close to Northallerton – so there is plenty of places for your family and friends to stay before and after your wedding.
If staying at the venue there are a range of facilities on site such as spa, a fitness centre, and an outdoor pool. Middleton Lodge is a most fantastic venue with great staff and can also help with suggesting florists, caterers, bands and DJs. These can all be included in the wedding packages that they offer.
