The Inkwell is one of York’s newest independent retailers. And, in a word is awesome. Selling all manner of re-issue vinyl, pop culture books, cds and other similar gifts the place is a little treasure trove of a store. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the shop as new owner, brains behind the Inkwell and old friend Paul Lowman transformed it from empty, barren retail space into a haven of schoolroom cool…
So, next time you are in York, head to Gillygate (the top end, nearest Bootham Bar) and go pop in through the door of number 10. Say hello, grab some of the mega coffee, buy a book or two and enjoy chatting to a shop owner who is passionate, enthusiastic and massively knowledgable about his craft. I guarantee you will enjoy it more than a trip to Tesco or HMV.

Bring on the Inkwell! Great transformation; hope it’s all going well.
