A real Downton Abbey wedding
Sunny and YaoYao chose the amazing Downton Abbey as the venue for their wedding day, and I was delighted to be able to capture all the moments for them perfectly. With full use of the castle, the bridal party made use of the sumptuous south-facing rooms for their preparations. Making their entrance to the guests by descending the grand sweeping oak staircase to the Saloon at the heart of the castle. This was where the ceremony took place. Designed in the gothic style, this opulent room’s decor stems back to the Victorian era. The reception was held in the fantastic library, which looked amazing as the sun started to go down.
I found time to slip off with the couple and we took a walk in the grounds and captured some iconic portrait shots that perfectly showed their personalities but also made the most of this fantastic venue and grounds. Highclere Castle boasts around 300 rooms and the estate has around 600o acres of land and is incredibly beautiful. Then it was back to the celebrations where the couple spent the evening socialising and dancing with their family and friends who had travelled from across the globe to celebrate with them their very quintessential English wedding.
The perfect wedding venue
Spending time with this amazing couple in such a beautiful venue really made this into a very special wedding. The castle team are on hand to help with all the planning and provide the catering.
