I have a baby daughter.

She is, far and away, the greatest thing I have accomplished with my time on this planet. In the last year she has taught me more about love, the importance of family, of companionship, of understanding and of how truly special and amazing life actually is than I thought could be possible.

It’s like I knew of all those things before she came along, but now I know about all those things.

She amazes me more and more every day. She can walk now. She gets very excited when she sees dogs/cats/balls/lights/birds/squirrels/insert-animal-here. She plays a mean maracas. She was 6 weeks premature. She has 5 teeth. She has the cheekiest smile. She is perfect in every single way, though I guess this is just how all parents the world over, past and present have felt and feel… Her name is Ida and tomorrow she is 1 year old.

And I can’t believe it.
