Bronte & Alex – Tunnels Beaches, Devon.

The Wedding of Bronte And Alex – Tunnels Beaches Wedding Photographer

When Bronte and Alex first got in touch about their wedding at Tunnels Beaches in Devon, they described a day that would feel relaxed, music-filled, and full of connection. They didn’t want anything too formal or staged – just timeless, natural photography that would reflect the real moments: the joy, the love and the relationships that matter most.

It was everything I love in a wedding and more.

Take a look at the images from the day – And if you’re drawn to natural, documentary-style wedding photography  – where every image helps you remember how it felt — I’d love to chat. I offer unlimited coverage because your story doesn’t fit into a fixed number of hours. I’m there from the start of the day right through to the final track, capturing the moments you planned… and all the beautiful ones you didn’t.

A Unique Coastal Wedding Venue in Devon

Tunnels Beaches is hands-down one of the most incredible UK wedding venues. Set against the rugged North Devon coastline in Ilfracombe, the venue is carved quite literally into the cliffs, with a private beach, Victorian hand-carved tunnels, and a jaw-dropping ceremony spot overlooking the sea. The whole place feels raw and elemental, yet beautifully considered. The dark volcanic stone and crashing waves make the perfect backdrop for storytelling wedding photography -dramatic, yet honest.

And if you’re looking for a relaxed beachside wedding vibe, it’s ideal. Everything is on-site – from preparation apartments to ceremony spaces and a stunning indoor-outdoor reception area with sunset views over the water.

From Rounders to Trumpets: A Wedding Full of Personality

Bronte and Alex both got ready in separate on-site apartments – surrounded by friends, music, and excitement. The groomsmen even kicked off the day with a game of rounders on the beach (because why not?) and a swim in the sea – wearing matching swim trunks designed by Bronte herself. That creative flair and thoughtfulness ran through the whole day.

The ceremony took place outside, overlooking the cliffs and sea – natural and windswept and completely beautiful. Bronte’s sister read lyrics from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and Alex’s sister gave a speech, making the ceremony feel deeply personal and emotional plus she managed to steal some of Alex’s jokes! The ceremony  music was arranged by Bronte’s brother, performed live by a string quartet, and later that night he joined the band on stage to play trumpet.

A Celebration of Friends, Family, and Great Dance Moves

It was clear from the start that friends and family meant everything to Bronte and Alex. From the speeches to the shared in-jokes to the absolute scenes on the dance floor, this was a day where love was loud and joyful.

They told me in advance that dancing would be starting early  –  and they weren’t wrong! The energy was high, the tunes were strong, and no one held back. It’s moments like this that make me so grateful for the way I work  – no time limits, no rushing off early. I stay until the last person leaves the dance floor, because sometimes the best parts of the story happen when everyone thinks the cameras are off.

Natural, Storytelling Wedding Photography at Tunnels Beaches

Bronte and Alex chose me because they wanted their wedding photos to tell the real story of the day  – not staged or moments re-enacted. They wanted to see their friends and family all their having the best time captured as they are, laughing and loving.

That’s exactly what I aim to do – to document a wedding as it really felt. I believe the most powerful wedding photographs are the ones that bring you straight back to the moment: the look your partner gave you during the vows, your mum’s proud tears, the belly laughs with your oldest friends.

Yes, we took a few relaxed portraits down on the beach, against the dark stones and tidal pools  –  but the heart of the day was in the candid, fleeting, human moments. That’s where the magic lives.
