“Amazing! Andy these are seriously beautiful…we are just  thrilled!”

David and Eugene are New Yorkers through and through.  They got married at the amazing Park Hyatt Hotel in New York City, with their closest friends involved throughout the day.  A suave and sophisticated event with music and love was key.

The bright lights of New York shine through David and Eugene.  There was nowhere else that they could wed than the city they live and breathe. I first met up with the couple in London for an engagement shoot a few months before their wedding, they were staying at the awesome Halyard Hotel in London, a hotel with its own bowling ally amongst many other great and unique features! It was in London on that visit that they found their perfect Cartier wedding rings.  It was great to hang out with them and get to know them and get a further understanding of what mattered to them in their wedding photography.

When I was next in New York, I met the guys in Midtown where they took me to a hidden rooftop bar overlooking their amazing city and saw more of their playful relationship, and experienced some great drinks.  Eugene is an entertainment agent, working with some top names in Hollywood and Broadway.  David is a lawyer.  Although different in many ways, they really are the perfect pair.

On their wedding day, David and Eugene got ready together, it was to be smart attire and only the best. Christian Dior Tuxedos finished off with Christian Louboutin velvet lace-ups for Eugene whilst David sported Jimmy Choo sparkly slip ons.  My excellent buddy, NineDots co-founder and fellow photographer, Adam Johnson, was second shooting the wedding and before the ceremony, all four of us headed out to get some shots around Central Park and the surrounding area, making the most of the winter light.  It was cold. like, biting, NYC winter cold.  We then headed back to the warmth of the Hyatt Hotel, across for Carnagie Hall, where the ceremony and reception was to be held.   The ceremony was a mix of modern and Jewish traditions, and the music was such an important part of the day.  As David and Eugene entered the ceremony a string quartet accompanied their friends who sang a love aria from Gounod’s Faust.  Their friends also sang With You from Pippin during the ceremony which is from one of the first musicals they saw together.  Having their various good friends involved in the ceremony was important to Eugene and David, and they also had friends participate in the ceremony by doing readings and by witnessing the Ketubah.  One of their closest friends, Hannah, co-officiated the wedding with Rabbi Lisa Rubin. Once married, David and Eugene exited to Lucky, this time a pop song.

The musical theme continued through the rest of the day. David and Eugene’s first dance was to a song called Only Us from Dear Evan Hansen, a musical playing on Broadway that they saw together the previous year, and for the after party, the pair had a piano delivered to the hotel so they could host a sing-a-long for a few hours. What an amazing day and the perfect way to celebrate.

As much as they love New York, Eugene and David managed to find time to slip off for a honeymoon in Thailand.
