Junebug ‘Best of the Best’ wedding photographer 2016

I’m really humbled to have been chosen for a 2nd year to be on the Junebug Weddings annual ‘Best of the Best’ wedding photographers in the world 2016 – for this image I shot in September 2016. This photo was shot at Aisling and James’s amazing wedding at Left Bank in Leeds, England – and grabbed during a break between courses when the sun had lined up with the windows of their amazing venue.

Junebug Best of the Best wedding photographers 2016

It is great to be sharing the list with some great friends and amazing photographers – here’s to a fantastic 2017 for you all! Massive thanks also to this years judges – Chrisman Studios, Benj Haisch and Shari + Mike Photographers.

Winning this award was a fantastic start to 2017.   I know it’s going to be a good year.  I have weddings lined up across the globe including Iceland, Africa, New Zealand, all over Europe, as well as the UK.

I am also really looking forward to presenting at various conferences and events this year, including ‘Way up North‘ in Rome in April and at Bujaka photo camp in Finland in the Autumn. I’m also going to be sharing all I know about wedding photography over 2 days at the end of February/early March on the NineDots workshops in Manchester.  And of course, the NineDots Gathering that takes place in November in London.

Thank you to all my wonderful couples, you’re all legends.  I really do have the best job in the world. 🙂

So bring on 2017 – it’s going to be great one!

Mark Byron Dowie - Great photograph. A true original.

Jonas Karlsson - Well deserved Andy. Youre a great inspiration.

Best UK Wedding Photographer – winner of the Masters of Wedding Photography Award

Best UK Wedding Photographer – Masters of Wedding Photography

I am really pleased to be first place in the Masters of Wedding Photography UK and IE Competition. The competition has four rounds through the year. At the end of 2016 and after two rounds, I’m currently in the lead with 10 awards for my selected images making me the current Best UK Wedding Photographer.

I the most recent round I had 4 winning images. There were some amazing winning entries – so great to be part of such an inspiring and talented industry in the UK. I’m honoured to have my images selected by the Jury members including Ed Peers, Isabelle Hattink and Mauricio Javier Arias Mora. The Master’s of Wedding Photography competition is great to be part of, and it’s always fun seeing the stunning images entered by my friends and peers in the industry.

Best UK Wedding Photographer

What I cannot say enough though is – what matters to me the most is working with my fantastic couples and being able to give them images they love and will cherish forever. It’s why I do what I do and would have it no other way. The best award is knowing I’ve captured their day, and the people who matter to them, and they have images that help them relive their day and how they felt over and over again.

2017 is going to be a great year for me personally and professionally. I can’t wait for some of the trips that I’ve got booked – with weddings in New Zealand, Africa, Europe and all over the UK. As well as presenting at workshops and conferences such as Way up North in Rome in April and at Bujaka photo camp in Finland in the Autumn. I’ll be sharing my knowledge and skills over 2 days at the end of February/early March on the NineDots workshops in Manchester. And of course, the legendary NineDots Gathering that takes place in November in London.

Isola Del Garda Wedding photographer // Lake Garda

Isola Del Garda Wedding Photographer

isole del Garda destination wedding

When Caroline and Mark’s enquiry landed in my inbox enquiring after an Isola Del Garda wedding photographer, I didn’t need asking twice! The Isola Del Garda is a stunning private island (complete with it’s own castle and gardens) situated a mile out in Italy’s Lake Garda.

Like many of the destination weddings that I photograph, their’s was a relatively small affair – just their closest friends and family joined them for what was a magical week! Everyone got ready at the Hotel Sogno and caught a private ferry out to the island before being joined by Caroline (via speedboat across Lake Garda with her dad!). Following an intimate, and beautiful ceremony – back dropped by some epic thunderstorms that had been gathering all morning – we all headed back to the Hotel Sogno for the reception with drinks on the terrace and views over the Lake, before partying the night away. Although their hopes of wall to wall blue sky never quite materialised – like every wedding I photograph, it didn’t matter at all – for me weddings are all about the people – and these people are awesome!

Special mention has to go to their little boy Seb, who (almost) stole the show – but was probably just pipped to the post by Caroline!

Thanks so much for having me along guys I had an amazing time with you all as your Isole Del Garda wedding photographer, and special thanks to Italian Lakes Weddings.

Best Wedding Photographer 2015

Well – thank you 2015 – You were awesome!

Can’t quite believe i have now been shooting weddings for 4 years – such an amazing ride! This year started on a high when I was awarded the title of Best Wedding Photographer in England at ‘The Wedding Industry Awards’. The awards are the biggest and most prestigious of their kind in the UK and to be recognised both by my couples, and also my peers, with the title of best wedding photographer was awesome and humbling!

Since then I have traveled the world documenting weddings, teaching workshops and speaking at various conferences and events. 2016 looks set to be just as good and I cant wait to get stuck in! A huge shout out has to go to my NineDot buddies/awesome photographers: Adam Johnson, Rahul Khona & Mick Shah – not only for their help, guidance and inspiration, but also for being part of the awesome NineDots journey we embarked upon back in February. The NineDots Gathering in November was beyond epic, and we have lots more plans for the future!

Although the award and recognitions are nice, the more I do this crazy science-art i get to call my job, the more I realise that what really matters are the people who you are making these images for. So if anything, this post is one huge thank you to those couples who trusted in me to come along on the biggest day of their lives, and let me in to craft their story with my camera. YOU ROCK! ALL OF YOU!

So, enough chatter, hope you all enjoy a few of my favourite moments and images from this last year!

Best of Wedding Photography 2015 - The Year That Was 20c15 - […] “This image, of Sarah & Nathan’s first kiss has to be one of my favourite wedding shots from 2015. It’s always hard having to pick a favourite from your babies, but I love that fact it is a different viewpoint from the usual ‘safe’ first kiss shot, and that it incorporates some of their amazing DIY wedding decor in the Yay! ballon. Always being on the lookout for interesting shots, angles and ways of including different elements in a scene is one of the things I love when shooting weddings – and it means every wedding is always new and exciting to photograph” – Andy – View The Full Wedding […]

Domaine de Saint Germain wedding photographer // Yee Ching & Joseph

Nestled in hills and olive groves not far from Sommiere in the South of France, and sitting in the shadow of the Pic Saint-Loup,  the Domain St. Germain could possibly be one of the most perfect hideaways to get married I have ever seen. Yee Ching and Joseph, along with a selection of their closest friends and family, spent an amazing week in the historic old country house to celebrate their wedding – and I was honoured to be invited along to document things for them.
