Paris is an awesome city and Sali & Jo are an awesome couple. Their wedding next month is going to be epic!
We spent a beautiful spring day exploring their favourite parts of the city and making photos as we went. And as the consummate tourist I also managed to sample a croque monsieur, some french beer, snails, langoustines, french wine and baguettes (…when in Rome… or Paris…)

Azahara & Adrian had an amazing day at the fantastic Cedar Court hotel in York. Adrian is an awesome magician and Azahara’s family all came over from their native Spain just for the wedding. I learnt two things: When the groom (and most of the guests) are awesome magicians there is never a dull moment at a reception and 2, that the language barrier is no match for fun, love and happiness. A totally ace day!

It has to be said (though I may be biased) that my wife and I make exceptionally cute babies. The other thing that can be said about our babies is that they are also exceptionally keen. Ida threw herself into the world 6 weeks early and Teddy showed his face nearly 8 weeks before he should have.
Now, although we got to enjoy special, advanced previews of their epic cuteness, it did mean that both of them spent the first few weeks of their lives in special care (specifically York SCBU). The staff and facilities at York SCBU really are something else – the nurses and doctors couldn’t be more helpful, understanding and caring during what can be a brutally stressful and emotional time. And on top of this, facilities such as kitchens, sitting rooms and on-site bedsits mean that new mothers and fathers can spend as much time in hospital as possible to help connect, bond and care for their little bundles of incubated joy. However, these things are not cheap to keep running and the SCBU relies heavily on donations to keep up their awesome standard of care. So, I’ll cut to the chase…
Until the end of May I will be offering ultra good value discounted mini portrait sessions for only £100 – and I will be donating every single penny of that money to York SCBU. In return, you will get an awesome mini portrait session (lasting about an hour) complete with all the edited files for you to keep and print/email/share to your heart’s content. So be it a ‘couples shoot’ with your other half, a family session with your kids, your pet, a baby, or well, any sort of photos just get in touch to book a session!
Because, well everyone deserves to have awesome photos of (and with) people who matter the most to them. And think of the little SCBU babies and families you will be helping out!
Oh and here is the small print – I am just getting into a really busy season of wedding photography, so these sessions are limited and must be conducted in/around York – but don’t let that scare you – I’ll throw in a guided tour for free too…

Hannah & Ed did something right and got the genuine first day of spring for their amazing Leighton Hall wedding. Overlooking the English lake district the venue couldn’t have been more perfect, and thanks to some scheming by Hannah, it even came complete with an awesome selection of hawks and owls. A totally lovely, amazing day!

Becoming a parent blew my mind. I don’t like talking about it too much, as I probably sound like a patronising idiot to all my non-parent friends, but it really did.
Since having our daughter Ida 2 and a bit years ago, I have learnt more about myself, family and love than I thought was possible. You just ‘get’ things better than before. See, there I am sounding like a patronising idiot (sorry friends!). One thing it taught me is a whole new level of respect for my own parents, and the emotional and physical sacrifices they made for me. But on the flip side, you realise that how you felt when you were young: that all knowing, infallible parents ruled your universe with unattainable parenting skills wasn’t really accurate. They were just winging it like I am now. Doing the best they could. Hoping things would be ok.
And, after winging it with one child you worry how you will cope with another. How could you possibly share the love you feel for the first with someone else – how could you dilute those feelings? Suddenly there are a new set of things you have to learn to do. New plates to spin.
But then a friend who is older and wiser told me not to worry:
‘You don’t need to fret about sharing or diluting anything’ they said. ‘They bring their own love with them.’
And he was right.
