Hi, I’m Andy!
I guess it should come as no surprise to you that I love photography. (I’ve had the bug since getting my first SLR camera as a teenager). It’s what I do. It’s who I am. But what I love even more is using photography to tell people’s stories…
Which makes me so happy and fortunate to be able to do what I do. I hang out with amazing couples who are madly-in-love, surrounded by their friends and family and I get to capture it all, tell their stories and make them happy! Since becoming a full time wedding photographer I have shared some amazing experiences with some fantastic people and made some great new friends!
I suppose I have always been creative. After finishing my degree, I spent most of my 20′s as a musician; gigging all over the country and touring Europe as well as playing lots of the major festivals and generally having a lot of fun. I also found time to run an independent record label, a few club nights and do a bit of dj-ing… However I feel rock’n'roll really is a young man’s game (Though it hasn’t bothered The Rolling Stones) and smelly vans full of amplifiers started to lose their appeal…then I shot a wedding for a friend and well, I haven’t looked back…
This year I married my fantastic (and vintage/retro obsessed) wife - I learnt more about being a wedding photographer whilst on the other side of the camera than I could have imagined. We had a big old knees up in a field (and got very lucky with the weather!). It was without doubt the joint best day of my life.
Sharing the number one spot are the 2 days (about 3 years apart) when our baby daughter, and more recently our son, were born. Today the four of us (well six including our two cats) live in the quaint, quirky and amazing ye olde City of York (along with the Vikings and tourists) and I photograph weddings all over the country and even further afield.
Urm, what else… well, when I find the time; I cook a mean king prawn dopiaza curry, still play a bit of guitar, love the outdoors, rock climbing and my new fave: clearing up Duplo and other children’s toys. Oh, and I love to travel – so feel free to invite me somewhere amazing!
